This website presents the main outcomes of the EU funded Railenergy project (2006-2010). Here you will find the results of the largest collaborative European railway energy R&D project on a sector wide platform.

Railenergy is bringing awareness and understanding of the implications of railway energy issues. We have developed a toolkit for railway professionals dealing with energy efficiency – whether from a technical, operational, economic, or strategic point of view.
The project results in a much improved and transparent framework, with a complete toolbox, for optimisation of energy efficiency solutions for railway manufacturers, rolling stock owners, freight and passenger operators as well as infrastructure managers. The multiple uses and results of the Railenergy toolbox are symbolised by the Swiss army knife. The toolbox is where you will find the answers to your energy questions!
